At Xtreme Ninja Martial Arts, we don't teach children how to fight. We teach them how to avoid fights, stay safe, and make smart decisions under pressure. While self-defense and fighting may look similar on the surface, they have very different purposes.
Here's why understanding that difference matters.
The biggest difference comes down to intent.
A fight usually happens because someone wants to prove they're stronger, get revenge, or win an argument through physical force.
Self-defense, on the other hand, is about protecting yourself or someone else when there is no safe alternative. The goal isn't to "beat" someone, it's to stay safe and get away from danger as quickly as possible.
