DRESS CODE & EQUIPMENT

At XN Martial Arts, we believe that proper dress and appearance are essential elements of martial arts discipline. Here’s a quick overview of key dress code and equipment policies, straight from our student handbook:

How to Tie a Belt

We often get asked, "How do you tie a belt?" Encourage your child to learn this skill! Check out this quick instruction video: How to Tie a Belt

Uniform Guidelines

• Karate Students: Wear a gi and your belt to every class. In warmer months, students may wear an XN t-shirt instead of the gi jacket. For testing, a full gi and belt are required.

  • Karate Uniforms & Gear Explained

• Muay Thai/Kids Boxing Students: Wear Muay Thai shorts and an XN t-shirt. Street clothes are not permitted.

  • Muay Thai/Kids Boxing Uniforms & Gear Explained

• Leadership Team Members: May wear custom gis only when assisting. Black gi for all ages, with patches sewn on the left chest.

• Seasonal Adjustments: XN t-shirts are allowed during sparring days and summer months, but always keep them tucked in and presentable.

Equipment Guidelines

• All gear must be personal—no sharing allowed for health and safety.

• For boys: Cup supporters are mandatory for protection. Starting this habit early is crucial.

• Sparring & training equipment can be purchased through the MyStudio App. For dual students (Karate and Muay Thai), we recommend the Karate Sparring Helmet, which works for both arts.

• Additional items like weapons, boards, and targets are available in our online shop.

Uniform Care

• Always wear a clean, well-fitted gi with no stains, tears, or wrinkles. Take pride in your appearance.

• Never wash your belt—it symbolizes your rank and training.

• Proper attire (including Prajioud armbands for Muay Thai students) is mandatory for all rank tests, tournaments, and demonstrations.

Barefoot Training

Most students train barefoot to strengthen their feet and improve technique. Avoid wearing socks to reduce the risk of slipping during class.

Shop Gear Directly

As a Century Martial Arts affiliate school, you can order gear directly through the MyStudio App and have it shipped to your home. Century offers a 30-day return policy for items purchased through Century Direct.
